After bariatric surgery, the breasts are often affected by a significant amount of sagging due to excess skin and fat left over from weight loss. A breast lift from our plastic surgeon reshapes sagging breasts to a more naturally rounded shape and repositions the breast, nipple, and areola to a more youthful position and projection.
There are many different ways to perform a breast lift. Some women simply require an incision around the nipple/areola while others require a vertical breast lift that results in a “lollipop” type incision. Still others require a full anchor scar incision. Dr. McCormack or Dr. Joslyn will assess your individual situation and help determine the breast lift that best suits your needs. Our plastic surgeons don’t believe in a “cookie cutter” approach whereby each patient gets the exact same procedure. They are very aware that each body is different and each patient’s aesthetic goal will vary.
Recovery after a breast lift varies from person to person. In general, it takes one to two weeks to return to your daily activities depending on your unique rate of healing. Our plastic surgeons will provide you with comprehensive post-op instructions so you know what to expect during the healing process.
In addition to a traditional breast lift, Dr. McCormack and Dr. Joslyn can combine the procedure with breast augmentation for patients who have thin, drooping breasts, with nipples at or below the fold. Breast implants can help shape the breasts and provide fullness in the upper portion, even if they are not specifically used to make the breasts larger.
