Reno Plastic Surgeon Uses SmartLipo For Fat Reduction and Skin Tightening

Plastic surgeon in Reno uses SmartLipo™ as a minimally-invasive alternative to traditional liposuction.

Reno, NV — Dr. Tiffany McCormack, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Reno, offers the latest advancement in liposuction: SmartLipo™. Using laser energy to reduce fat pockets and create a more toned, contoured appearance, Dr. McCormack says the liposuction alternative can reduce recovery time and bruising commonly linked to the traditional liposuction procedure.

Approved by the FDA in 2006, SmartLipo™ is the first nonsurgical laser-assisted alternative to liposuction. Dr. McCormack says the minimally invasive procedure allows her to target the areas of fat that have been particularly difficult for her patients to improve, despite their diet and exercise regimen. She adds that SmartLipo™ offers her patients a more cost-effective treatment, while still providing an effective solution to help them eliminate excess fat and achieve a renewed self-confidence in their appearance.

According to Dr. McCormack, SmartLipo™ is a safe and effective treatment that allows patients to address some of the issues. She cites three distinct advantages of this breakthrough technology:

  1. Performed Under Local Anesthesia – “SmartLipo™ can be performed in office and requires little downtime.”
  2. Skin Tightening – “I have found that many patients have relatively small areas they are interested in treating, such as the neck, arms, abdomen, and inner thighs. Some of these areas benefit as much from skin tightening as they do from fat reduction.”
  3. Smart Technology – “While I have resisted laser lipolysis systems in the past because of their reputation for possible burns, the triplex system is the only system with a subdermal temperature probe that automatically turns off if the temperature gets too high.”

Dr. McCormack typically begins the SmartLipo™ procedure by administering a local anesthetic to the areas that will be treated, and then she creates a small incision for the ultra-thin laser. After the fiber optic laser technology melts the excess fat cells, they are suctioned out, creating a smoother, firmer texture. Additionally, she says the treatment can also be combined with other procedures during a mommy makeover.

Although patients at her Reno plastic surgery practice are generally able to resume normal daily activities within one to two days after treatment, Dr. McCormack stresses that recovery time and the potential for bruising will vary for each patient. The Reno plastic surgeon adds that the patient’s skin will typically continue to firm up and the contour of the treated areas will continue to improve in the weeks and months following the procedure.
