With the passage of time, the various effects of one’s genetics, lifestyle decisions, and numerous environmental elements can contribute to the development of skin laxity and/or other signs of aging on certain areas of the body. Ultherapy® is a non-invasive treatment designed to help revitalize skin on the face, neck, and décolletage, all without the need for surgery. Also known as Ulthera®, this advanced technique works by delivering ultrasound energy deep into the foundational layer of skin in the targeted region, effectively lifting and tightening the skin while helping to diminish fine lines and wrinkles with minimal to no downtime and beautiful, natural-looking results.
Ultherapy® is a very provider-dependent treatment when it comes to achieving an excellent result. The technique can vary significantly from practice to practice, which makes choosing the right practitioner an extremely important decision. At Reno Tahoe Plastic Surgery, we have a fully trained Registered Nurse who has many years of experience performing Ulthera® treatment. She is educated on the most advanced techniques that have evolved since the device originally became available, and she is dedicated to providing the utmost level of safety and personalized care to ensure optimal results.
When you select our practice for Ultherapy™, you can rest assured that you are receiving treatment from a skilled and qualified provider. In addition, you can feel comfortable knowing that a board-certified plastic surgeon—who not only has considerable training and experience with Ulthera®, but who also upholds a stringent code of ethics—is on-site in the exceptionally rare event of a complication. Ultimately, Ultherapy® will be employed only if it is appropriate for your needs and desires, as Dr. McCormack and Dr. Joslyn would never recommend a treatment method that she does not feel is the best option for your unique goals.
Performed in the safety and comfort of our treatment rooms at M Spa, Ultherapy® offers a variety of unique benefits, including no needles, no incisions, and no extensive recovery period. For qualified patients, this innovative treatment may be able to help:
For many individuals, Ultherapy® can serve as an excellent non-surgical alternative to facelift, neck lift, and/or brow lift surgery.
There is a diverse range of patients who can benefit from Ultherapy® to reduce skin laxity. As a non-surgical technique, Ultherapy® doesn’t require any invasiveness, general anesthesia, or excessive downtime. This makes treatment a viable option for many people bothered by loose, excess skin, particularly men and women who want to feel more refreshed but who aren’t interested in a facial plastic surgery procedure. In general, good candidates for Ultherapy® include individuals who:
Ultherapy® can be an effective way to regain firmer, younger-looking skin on the face, under the neck, or on the chest. Our skilled team at M Spa will evaluate your concerns and speak with you about your goals to confirm whether Ultherapy® is the right treatment to achieve your desired results. We offer a variety of facial rejuvenation and skin tightening services at our Reno facility, including Genius™ RF microneedling, Renuvion®, and HydraFacial®, among other treatments.
During treatment, the Ulthera® device is guided gently across the targeted area as it directs ultrasound waves deep into the skin’s subcutaneous layer. This ultrasonic energy works to warm foundational tissues at specific depths until they reach the temperature at which the production of new collagen within the skin is stimulated. Once produced, this newly grown collagen helps to lift, tighten, and fortify skin in the treatment region for a smoother, more youthful-looking aesthetic. On average, the entire Ultherapy® procedure takes approximately one hour to complete, though this will depend on the quantity of areas being addressed.
No, the ability to tighten skin and stimulate new collagen production without downtime is one of the key benefits of Ultherapy®! For this reason and more, the sound energy-based treatment can be an excellent non-surgical alternative to facial rejuvenation procedures like a facelift or a neck lift. While some redness and potential swelling are possible immediately after treatment, there is no recovery time required after Ultherapy® and patients can resume their normal routine immediately. Over-the-counter medications are usually enough to manage any discomfort. Exercise can also be resumed soon after a patient’s appointment. Our team will provide you with aftercare instructions so you know what to expect after treatment.
At the time of their Ultherapy® session, patients may feel ultrasonic energy being delivered to certain depths of the skin— a sensation that only lasts during the length of treatment. Following the Ultherapy® procedure, some mild redness and/or swelling may be present, but these side effects should subside relatively quickly. As a non-invasive procedure, the majority of patients experience little to no downtime and are often able to resume normal daily activities as soon as they leave our office.
The rejuvenative effects of treatment will typically improve gradually over time as the skin continues to grow new collagen, and final outcomes are usually visible after about two to three months. With the increase in collagen production stimulated by Ultherapy®, patients can generally enjoy long-lasting results as the protein continues to keep skin tight and firm. The unique aging process of each individual will determine how long it takes for the new collagen to break down, meaning the longevity of the outcome will vary from patient to patient. Touch-up treatments are available at M Spa if additional rejuvenation or a skin refresh is desired. Ultimately, Ultherapy® has helped numerous women and men achieve exceptional skin lifting and tightening results for an enhanced overall appearance.
While they occur very infrequently, all medical procedures involve some chance of complication. Risks associated with Ultherapy® treatment may include tenderness, sensitivity to the touch, or temporary numbness. That said, ultrasonic energy-based treatments have been used effectively for over 50 years with fairly predictable results. Furthermore, Ultherapy® is approved by the FDA and has been performed safely around the world for many years. The best way to reduce potential risks and help ensure the safety of your procedure is to select a qualified and experienced Ultherapy® provider who works under the supervision of a board-certified plastic surgeon to carry out your treatment.
The price of Ultherapy® generally depends on the size of the treatment area. Costs typically vary on an individual basis and your Ultherapy® provider will provide you with a personalized quote after your concerns are assessed in person. We work to give patients an array of payment options to help make treatment more affordable. If you prefer to pay for your Ultherapy® expenses in smaller installments rather than a lump sum, M Spa accepts financing through CareCredit®, Alphaeon™ Credit, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. Each of these healthcare lending companies offers several different payment plans with low monthly installments to accommodate virtually any budget.
